Initially, the war was started between the Allied Powers and the Central Powers of Europe in 1914; however, it quickly spread to Asia and Africa. America tried to remain neutral, but intervened in 1917 following German provocations. This program will provide an overview of the causes, conduct and consequences of that action by President Woodrow Wilson, which sent four million U.S. troops to fight for an estimated 17 months, causing tens of thousands of casualties.
