Event Description: In this lecture, you will learn about the Hispanic population and its contributions to the United States, as well as its language and projection as the second Spanish-speaking country of the world. Topics will include Thomas Jefferson and the Spanish language, and Walt Whitman's theory on the importance of the Hispanic element on American nationality. You will learn about the surprising, unknown and ignored U.S. Hispanic-American facts, which configure U.S. history, culture, social and political development.
