Event Description: Hodges University's Frances Pew Hayes Center for Lifelong Learning is hosting Larry Richardson, who will present "Finding Nature’s Canvas." Our southwest coastal environment is made up of thousands of acres of mangroves, uplands and coastal waters - a physical collection of the “inanimate” and the “breathing.” It is not just a mecca for research, but it is an international playground for scientists and discovery. It is more than a wilderness. It is a place to be saved for its inhabitants, as well as for us and future generations. Our coastal habitats are everyone’s canvas on which we realize incredible landscapes where we can testify to the interplay of fish and wildlife, wonderful sunrises and sunsets - both from the same vantage point. In addition, it is where we can find art among nature. Larry Richardson has photographed this paradise for more than a quarter century, capturing both the beauty and science in his images, blending them as keepsakes for our legacy. You can help preserve this canvas, but first, you must fall in love with it; knowing that your affection for nature is the first rule of preservation. Cost: $250 (Annual); $125 (Seasonal); $25 (per class) For more information, contact Katharine Sittler at cll@hodges.edu or (239) 598-6140.
