Event Description: Hodges University's Frances Pew Hayes Center for Lifelong Learning is hosting Dr. Cynthia Gomez, who will present "Women Writers of the Victorian Era." The women of the early 19th century used their pens and voices to bring about social change. Words put to paper were used to propose reforms in many aspects of their everyday lives. Although writing as a profession for women was frowned upon, many notable authors were born out of this point in history. Learn about the challenges, choices and careers of several familiar writers, including the Bronte sisters, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, George Eliot, Emily Dickinson and others. Cost: $250 (Annual); $125 (Seasonal); $25 (per class)
