Event Description: Hodges University's Frances Pew Hayes Center for Lifelong Learning is hosting Dr. Cynthia Gomez, who will present " Women Writers of the Regency Era: Challenges and Triumphs." Being a female writer of fiction has not always been as popular or respectable as it is today. Women writers of the Regency Era such as Jane Austen and her peers had to battle through many challenges to get work published. This session will explore the challenges of that time for women who chose to write as a profession. We will explore the Regency Era, as well as women writers of that time, emphasizing the work and influence of Jane Austen. Cost: $250 (Annual); $125 (Seasonal); $25 (per class)
