Event Description: Jay Goldberg Events and Entertainment & IT$ NOT OBER YET Productions present An Evening with Village People, one of disco’s most recognizable and energetic hit-makers. The legendary group will perform their iconic music at Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 8 p.m., with doors opening at 7 p.m. Tickets are available now for $55 and can be purchased at the casino, online at www.jaytv.com or by phone at 800-514-ETIX(3849). Known as the “Kings of Disco,” Village People have sold more than 100 million records worldwide since the 1970s with such career defining hits as “Macho Man,” “Y.M.C.A,” “In the Navy” and “Can’t Stop the Music.” In 1979, the American Music Awards presented the group with the “Favorite Musical Group” award. They also won the American Guild of Variety Artist’s Georgie Award, West Germany’s Gold Lion Award for Music Excellence, and Brazil’s Award for Best Act. In 1980, Village People starred in their own major feature film, “Can’t Stop the Music,” co-starring Steve Guttenberg, Valerie Perrine and Bruce Jenner. It remains a popular cult film worldwide. Their music also can be heard in dozens of major motion pictures including “Down Periscope,” “Wayne’s World II”, “Addams Family Values” and “In and Out.” In 2008, Village People received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Most recently, the group released “Let’s Go Back to the Dance Floor,” its first worldwide single in 25 years. The song was written and produced by KC and the Sunshine Band’s Harry Wayne Casey. Village People are Raymond Simpson (Cop and lead singer), Felipe Rose (Native American), Alexander Briley (GI/Military), Eric Anzalone (Biker), Bill Whitefield (Construction Worker) and Jim Newman (Cowboy). Concert attendees must be 21 years of age or older. From Fort Myers: Take I-75 to exit #138 east (Highway 82) till it dead ends into Highway 29 (Main Street - Immokalee) turn right on Hwy 29 and go to the fifth traffic light (First Street) then make a right onto First Street. The Casino is located approximately five blocks down on the left. From Bonita: Take I-75 to exit #123 east (Corkscrew Road) till it dead ends into State Road 82, turn right on 82 till it dead ends into Highway 29, turn right on Hwy 29 (Main Street - Immokalee) go to the fifth traffic light (First Street) and make a right onto First Street. The Casino is located approximately five blocks down on the left. From Naples or Marco Island: Take I-75 to exit #111 East (Immokalee Road) approximately 30 miles. The Casino will be on the right as you enter the town of Immokalee. Note: Driving time from most areas of Fort Myers, Bonita, Naples and Marco Island is approximately 25 to 45 minutes.
