Event Description: On Feb. 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Feb. 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Edison & Ford Winter Estates will hold its annual Edison Garden Festival as part of Thomas Edison's birthday celebration. This year there are lots of new twists, such as great food, craft beer tasting of the Edison Birthday Brew and a petting zoo with farm animals for children of all ages. This annual event attracts dozens of vendors from all over the state of Florida that have thousands of exotic and tropical plants and trees, along with garden art and supplies for sale. Plants include palms, vegetables, bromeliads, hibiscus, butterfly plants, African violets, orchids, air plants, herbs, succulents, cactus and many hard-to-find species, as well as garden supplies and gift items, including mulch, trellises, pottery, cut flowers, hats and jewelry for sale. The Edison Ford Garden Shoppe is full of wonderful exotic and old-fashioned plants that have proven to work in the gardens here. This free, family event will have numerous kids’ activities, including a root beer tasting table, photo opportunities in a Model T Ford and with the Thomas Edison and Henry Ford living history characters, creating botanical valentines and making corn husk dolls. A petting zoo will be onsite Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Kids also will be able to plant sprouts that they can grow at home. The festival also will feature a live band, live broadcasts with The River and Cat Country, refreshments, and a special Edison Birthday Brew that Old Soul Brewery is creating from Edison Ford Star Fruit. A special Valentine's Day giveaway package for four, including a tour of Edison Ford, river cruise with Pure Fort Myers and lunch or dinner at Pinchers will be given away. The Edison Garden Festival is a sanctioned event of the Edison Festival of Light
